Plamen Dejanoff Foundation
The Plamen Dejanoff Foundation (Фондация Пламен Деянофф) is a transnational museum, embassy, laboratory, and workshop for contemporary and heritage culture.
Established in 2010 at the initiative of international collectors, museums, and companies, the foundation aims to provide a framework for projects that address questions of tangible and intangible heritage, with the objective to “embed contemporary art in the public consciousness of Bulgaria.”
Under the foundation’s umbrella, contemporary art projects converge to explore heritage, tradition, cultural identities, hegemony, as well as discourses on monuments and values.
Furthermore, the Plamen Dejanoff Foundation maintains several continuously expanding collections:
Contemporary Art: Over 200 works by international contemporary artists.
Architecture: Seven important historical buildings and four gardens in Veliko Tarnovo and Arbanasi.
Historical Documents: Over 25,000 original documents from the Middle Ages to the present day on the history of Bulgaria and Europe.
Books on Contemporary Culture: Over 2,000 titles.
The foundation’s headquarters is located in Sofia, Bulgaria, with additional branches in Veliko Tarnovo and Arbanasi, Bulgaria and Vienna, Austria.
The Chairman, Ambassador, and Executive Director is Austrian lawyer and collector Dr. Bernhard Hainz.
